17,000 vaccinations and counting!

CHFT started the COVID-19 vaccinations rollout at the beginning of January at both Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

We have been vaccinating frontline NHS workers, care home staff, Locala and South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust colleagues too.

Mel Addy, pictured left, temperature-testing Ophthalmologist Indra Dias, has come back in from retirement to help set it all up. She said: “It’s been entertaining, challenging, but ultimately very rewarding.”

Huge thanks to our colleagues on the COVID Booking Line too - without them we couldn’t have given out a massive 17,000 jabs!

One of our public governors, Sheila Taylor, has shared her experience of having her first COVID vaccination.

Sheila says "I have been to the John Smiths Stadium for my first dose of the vaccine.  Was I apprehensive? - no, would I encourage people? - yes. Very smooth operation by the staff and volunteers at the stadium, and efficient friendly staff from Locala and the Army. Showing no side effects of the vaccine at this moment in time, but hey ho, if I do it will be well worth it to get back onto the right road to normality."
