Governor elections 2020 - postponed

Under normal circumstances, at this time of the year we would be starting to prepare for the annual elections for publicly elected and staff elected governors to sit on our Council of Governors.

We have received national guidance that due to the pandemic this year's elections need to be postponed, as to run them currently would 'divert resources at a time of crisis, and be an unsatisfactory process in terms of democracy'.

What this means for us is that in line with our constitution, we have invited our existing governors who are coming to the end of either a three-year or a six-year term to remain on the Council of Governors for an additional 12 months.  This way we will not be left with a significant number of vacancies, and we will have some continuity within our Council of Governors at this challenging time.
