Welcome from the Chair

Welcome to an extra edition of our members' newsletter, which we're sending out to give you an update on what's going on at CHFT during the coronavirus pandemic.  These are unprecedented times - I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like working on the "front line".  But as ever, colleagues have pulled out all the stops: I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the combined efforts of everyone at CHFT to make sure we continue to safely look after our patients and importantly, our hard-working colleagues, during this emergency situation.  We've included some really positive examples below of what colleagues have been doing to cope with the crisis.

My heartfelt thanks to all colleagues, clinical and non-clinical alike, who are working together harder than ever to get results - there are too many groups to list here but let's just say they all make me very proud to be Chair of this amazing organisation.

Whilst colleagues on the front line are working hard, there is also a lot of work going on in the background to make sure that the governance arrangements are taken care of and the Trust continues to function in line with its constitution.  Naturally, the pandemic has impacted on some of those arrangements and you can see more details later in this newsletter.

I'm sure some of you will have taken part in the very emotional "Clap for our Carers".... and I hear there are moves afoot to make it a weekly event, so let the clapping ring out loud and clear across Kirklees and Calderdale and beyond to support our wonderful colleagues.

To all our members, I hope you and your loved ones stay safe in these difficult times.

Best wishes

Philip Lewer - Chair
