A Happy New Year to all of you - our members - and a big welcome to the first edition of Foundation News in 2020.
I hope you'll enjoy reading about just some of the amazing developments and achievements here at CHFT since the last edition last summer.
For starters I would like to highlight - in particular - two important stories for your attention.
One is about how you can become a Governor here at CHFT in this summer's elections. The other is inviting you to vote for our Quality Account priorities for the upcoming year. Please read and vote - and get in touch if you wish to become a Governor. Thank you.
Looking back since the last edition it has been a roller-coaster few months in the NHS as always. Our amazing colleagues here never fail to impress me with how they rise to challenges and go above and beyond for our patients and their families.
The reason my shirt is bright pink (not a typical one) is that in August 2019 our Trust was proud to launch the national Unsung Hero 2019 awards, which is very much pink-themed and recognises the work of non-clinical colleagues.
Other highlights included the Health Service Journal awards: we had an amazing three teams in the finals of the NHS "Oscars" for caring and initiative (more below).
Recently, after one of the most challenging winters for the NHS, it emerged we were in the top 10 best performing Trusts - 10th out of 117 - with 91% of all our A&E patients seen within four hours. Teamwork between the hospitals and our partners in community at its very best.
And finally I wish to add my congratulations to our CEO Owen Williams who was awarded an OBE in the New Year's Honours list for services to healthcare in West Yorkshire.
Just a few highlights from a memorable few months - there are more in this edition.
So, very best wishes to you all, and I hope you enjoy this round-up.
