Here's some of the governors on our Council of Governors (CoG) and here's how you can join them.
Our Trust, like all Foundation Trusts, has a CoG and its two main functions are:
The CoG is an important link for the Trust with its local community. This is a fundamental part of being a Foundation Trust, helping us to be more responsive to local needs.
Being a governor isn't about dealing with complaints as we already have very robust procedures in place to do this. It's about helping us to find out what people think about our services and how they could be improved and helping us to tell people about the challenges we face and gaining their help and support in meeting them.
Governors are volunteers, and are not paid, although we do reimburse travel expenses.
The CoG is made up of governors elected from our public members (like you) and our staff groups and we also have a number of appointed governors from our partner organisations such as Huddersfield University and the two Local Authorities in Halifax and Huddersfield.
Over the spring/summer each year we hold elections to fill vacancies and 2020 will be a bumper occasion as we will be holding elections to 12 of our public or staff seats.
Elections will be taking place in the following public constituencies:
We're in the early stages but if you are already interested then please feel free to call Vanessa Henderson, our Membership and Engagement Manager, to find out more about the role. Call her on 01484 347342 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We'll log your interest and when the elections are announced later this year will be back in touch. You can also find more details about the CoG on our website - click here
