Owen's OBE - and his thanks for all his support

We were thrilled to learn our CEO Owen Williams had been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list.

The honour - for services to healthcare in West Yorkshire - was unveiled in late December and the investiture at Buckingham Palace will be later this year.

Bradford-born Owen - a father of three - joined us in 2012 from Calderdale Council where he was CEO, following a career in public service including roles at Bradford and Rossendale Council.

He thanked everyone who had influenced and supported him throughout his career including his colleagues here at CHFT.

When the news broke he said: “It feels like five minutes since I wrote my first introductory Chief Exec message back in May 2012. Fast forward to now and I feel really humbled to have been given this accolade for services to healthcare across West Yorkshire.

“I am really clear that achievements such as this are not possible without the help and support of other people. That’s why I’d like to give my heartfelt thanks to CHFT colleagues, past and present, for the part they have played in helping me to be recognised for this award.

“I think this reflects positively on what the Trust has achieved over the years and is proof positive of the commitment that many of my friends and colleagues have towards providing compassionate care for local people.”

He also thanked his family and expressed his regret that his late mother and father and mother-in-law were not here to share the award with him but said they "would be looking down and smiling".
