Celebrating with our Volunteers

We love these photos of some of our fantastic volunteers, which we took as we were out and about celebrating Volunteers' Week.

Here's the story of a former volunteer, Jamie Whitely, who now has a full-time job working in our Pharmacy Department at HRI.

Jamie, 24, from Mount in Huddersfield, graduated three years ago with a 2:1 in Forensic and Analytical Science, but, he says: "I was being told at job interviews that my lack of experience was a key reason for being unsuccessful" so last year he contacted our Volunteer Team and they were able to place him in the Patient Pharmacy at Huddersfield, where he started in December 2018.

Jamie, said “Working as a volunteer has totally, 100% contributed to me getting my role as Pharmacy Assistant at CRH, which I started on 13th May”.

Colleague Engagement Advisor and Volunteer Co-ordinator, Anya Macbeth, said: “It’s fantastic we can offer volunteer opportunities to local people.  Some want to give back to the hospital or have really personal reasons for doing it. Others, like Jamie, recognise it’s an important step in their career.

“We’re delighted Jamie has secured a permanent job at the Trust and that we’ve been able to play a small part in that”.

If you, or someone you know, would be keen to volunteer please call the team on 01484 35 (5648) or look for volunteers roles here
