PATs off to Nellie and our four-pawed visitors

We've recently said a big welcome to Nellie the Cavapoo - our first Pets As Therapy (PAT) dog.  Nellie charmed everyone during her first visit to CHFT and the  caramel-coloured cutie wowed staff and patients alike on the Children's Ward.

CHFT is currently one of the leading Trusts in the country in terms of introducing technology to support care for patients.  digitalhealth.net produces a league table reflecting how much technology has been adopted at each Trust in the country and no other Trust is doing as well in terms of Clinical Digital Maturity Index (CDMI) as CHFT.  read more

Our Emergency Department consultant, Mark Davies, and registrar Michaela Blood, joined 12 ambulance personnel and 32 first-aiders at the Take That concert on Wednesday 4 June.  read more

Oh baby! Yorkshire Fertility's 2019 party was a cracker!

Our team at Yorkshire Fertility (YF) pulled off another successful annual party and there was nothing but praise and a huge outpouring of affection for all their support in helping people grow their families.  One family are so grateful they've created a special story based on Jack and the Beanstalk for their son.  read more

Our "golden" Grahams...to the rescue at five-a-side footie

Our senior nurse Graham Murphy, right, and respiratory nurse specialist Graham Marvell, left, have been reunited with - and thanked by - the man they saved after he collapsed playing five-a-side footie.  Father-of-two Paul Bailey, centre, had scored a goal, then experienced a cardiac arrest while playing football at Park Lane Academy Sports Hall in Halifax in January.  read more

New Acute Floor at HRI joins one at CRH

We've set up a single acute floor at HRI, following the success of the work at CRH.  Colleagues in Medicine and Surgery worked together to create the floor on wards 8 and 9 and already we've seen improvements in patient care. The set up has also helped us to cope with the winter flow issues earlier in the year.  read more

A round-up from our inaugural Junior Doctors' Awards

Joe Quinn was the hero of the night at our first Junior Doctors' Awards after scooping armfuls of certificates, trophies - and even a Golden Buzzer!  Organisers had to create the extra award - mirroring the Britain's Got Talent TV show - to recognise the amazing fact that Joe was nominated in every single category - sometimes twice - and by nine different co  read more

Governors Update

Meet the Governor....wrong meeting, glorious views and fab fellow governors...Sheila Taylor's views one year into her role

Sheila Taylor is one of 16 publicly-elected govenors on our Council of Governors. She was elected to represent the Huddersfield Central constituency last July.  She was a secretary in IM&T training at HRI, she loves Pilates and is currently caring for her poorly pooch. Your governors at work

Three times a year governors meet with our senior management teams at Divisional Reference Group meetings.  The meetings give governors the chance to ask questions about the Trust's performance. They start around a meeting table then move on to a visit to meet CHFT staff and find out more about the services and care we provide.  read more

SOC launched and reconfig next steps

In April the Strategic Outline Case (SOC) was published, setting out ongoing plans to reconfigure healthcare services and specifically those provided in our two hospitals.  It is the next step following the award of £196m from the Department of Health and Social Care late last year to fund the proposed changes to hospital care in our area.  read more
