Issue 8February 2021

Welcome from Philip

A very warm welcome to our latest edition of Foundation News, and a Happy New Year to you all.  It’s become a bit of a cliché, but I do sincerely hope that 2021 is a whole lot better for everyone than 2020 was.

In my welcome this time last year, I said, “Looking back since the last edition it has been a roller-coaster few months in the NHS as always.”  Little did I know then what was right around the corner!  I’ve said it time and time again since last March, but I am in complete and utter awe of my colleagues here at CHFT, who have battled against the odds to continue to provide the best possible care for our patients.  To say I am proud to be the Chair of the Trust at this time is an under-statement, and my heartfelt thanks go to every single member of the team at CHFT for everything they have done and continue to do.

Despite the challenges, we have celebrated a number of amazing success stories which you’ll be able to read about in this edition.  There are a couple of articles I’d particularly like to draw your attention to: one is about how you can show your support for CHFT and put yourself forward to stand as a Governor in this year’s elections; the other is your opportunity to vote for what you feel our quality priorities should be for the coming year.  Please vote by Friday 19 February – and drop me a line at if you’d like more information about becoming a Governor.

I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter.

Best wishes, and stay safe everyone.

Philip Lewer, Chair
