What being a governor means to Lynn

Lynn Moore has been a governor at CHFT for 6½ years, for the North and Central Halifax constituency. She will come to the end of her time as a governor in July this year. Lynn tells us she is keen to remain involved with the Trust after July, so we will be keeping her busy!

17,000 vaccinations and counting!17,000 vaccinations and counting!

CHFT started the COVID-19 vaccinations rollout at the beginning of January at both Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and at Calderdale Royal Hospital. We have been vaccinating frontline NHS workers, care home staff, Locala and South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust colleagues too.

Professor Chris Whitty, the Chief Medical Officer for England, has congratulated CHFT for our “outstanding performance” at the forefront of the RECOVERY clinical trials. We are currently the second best in the country with more than 400 patients recruited to the trial.

Reconfiguration of services and estate developments update

We are continuing to progress our plans for the reconfiguration of services and estate developments at Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (HRI). At CRH we are planning by 2025 to expand the hospital - providing additional wards, theatres, a new A&E and paediatric emergency department, and a multi-storey car park.

Marilyn's marvellous MBE!

Marilyn Rogers was “shocked, surprised and thrilled in equal measure” to learn a gong was coming her way in the New Year’s Honours list. She said: “When I received the news from the Cabinet Office it was a surreal, extraordinary, and wonderful moment.

Filipino colleagues - friends and family for 20 years

Our Filipino colleagues have been part of the team at CHFT since December 2000 – and here they are celebrating the landmark anniversary of caring with us. Charge nurse Randolf Roldan, second left, says CHFT has been like a second family to them – more than 6,000 miles from their loved ones.

JAG bagged! Endoscopy accredited again

A huge well done to our endoscopy teams, who are celebrating after gaining the prestigious JAG (Joint Advisory Group) accreditation yet again from the Royal College of Physicians. Both the HRI and CRH units (pictured) have gained the accreditation which demonstrates the units are running to very high standards and providing excellent patient care.
