Welcome to this latest edition of our newsletter for members.
I want to start with some thank yous. The number of donations and gifts we've received over the last three months from local people and businesses has been overwhelming. We've had local children doing sponsored walks to raise cash, businesses donating coffee machines to keep our hard-working teams going, organisations providing thousands of meals to our colleagues, sponsored head shaves - the list is, literally, endless, as the donations and gifts continue to pour in. These donations and gifts have kept up spirits and helped colleagues to deal with what has been an extremely difficult time. A heartfelt thank you.
In the last newsletter I mentioned the "Clap for our Carers" initiative that was just getting off the ground. I think it is amazing that it continued for 10 weeks, never losing its momentum as the great British public got behind the teams working tirelessly across the NHS at 8 pm every Thursday. Thank you to those of you who showed your support in that way, too.
It feels as though we're slowly reaching "the other side" and our management teams are working hard to get our services back up and running but as an organisation we know that life will look very different post-COVID19. We'll be making changes to some of our services on the back of what the pandemic has taught us and in order to keep our patients safe going forward. We will, of course, keep you, our members, up-to-date on what those changes will be when all our plans are clear.
Thank you again, and I hope you enjoy reading about some of the fantastic things my dedicated colleagues have been doing to care for our patients and keep everyone safe at this challenging time.
