On the road to RECOVERY

The World Health Organisation has announced a massive medical breakthrough in the fight against COVID-19. And we're delighted to be able to shout from the rooftops that our Trust, and our patients, have played a key part!

The Trust has been involved in the RECOVERY clinical trial, which has found that the steroid drug Dexamethasone is the first drug to have shown to improve survival rates in COVID-19.  Our brilliant Research and Development team and clinicians recruited 113 patients onto the trial which is amazing for our patients and our team. Pictured is the whole research team - research nurses, Principal Investigator Purav Desai (holding up the white pill bottle), consultant and clinical trials assistant. The only people missing are the amazingly brave patients who agreed to take part in the trial!

This was Purav's first venture into medical research - not bad for a first attempt!  Well done to the whole team, and the patients concerned, on this fantastic achievement!
