Just like many other organisations, here at CHFT we have had to embrace technology in order to continue to provide services. This has meant that many patients have been able to have their outpatient appointments remotely - and when we say remotely....
Thanks to technology, our Paediatric Diabetes Team at Calderdale Royal Hospital were still able to support a patient even at a distance of nearly 2000 miles!
Patient Daniel Barnes, 13, and his mum Elena, often travel to Russia from the UK, and they went out there just before lockdown began. They then found themselves unable to get home due to the uncertainty of flights and it looked as though Daniel might miss his outpatient appointment. But the team stepped up and with the help of technology, managed to set up a virtual appointment so Daniel could have his review after all.
The Team were absolutely thrilled that they could still provide care for Daniel - 2000 miles and a three-hour time difference weren't going to stop them!
