What a night! Three teams in the NHS "Oscars"

The Trust celebrated its best ever night at the Health Service Journal 2019 awards with three of our teams through to the finals.

The entries were all linked by the aim of enhancing the care we provide here at CHFT and they were:

  • Our "Digital Knee Team" - some patients can now have a knee replacement as a day case and go home with rehabilitation tracked and supported digitally.
  • The 20:20 Team - this team has their focus on trying to reduce the number of outpatient follow-up appointments for our patients. For example, instead of returning to hospital time after time, patients, if suitable can choose to have a consulation with a clinician over the phone or by video in the comfort of their own home. This team has also recently won a regional Yorkshire and Humber Award for their work which is at the forefront of a national campaign.
  • Our Acute Floor at CRH - as a pilot we merged the Acute Medical Unit and the short stay ward so patients are now cared for by the same team of doctors and nurses and do not have to move beds and locations for their care. It was so successful we have now introduced a similar acute floor at HRI.

We returned with a Highly Commended and two finalist certificates - a tremendous achievement at what are the NHS's most prestigious awards for hospitals showcasing the very best in innovation, commitment and dedication to improving patient care.

Our photos show the three teams. Each had to pose for a celebratory photo shoot on the night - why the Acute Floor Team went for a pyramid, we'll never know!

Well done to them all.
