Hey Jude...Meet the Governor and find out how you could get involved in 2019

Jude Goddard became a CHFT governor for the Calder and Ryburn Valleys constituency following our elections last summer.

Jude is one of 16 public governors who make up our Council of Governors (CoG) together with staff and stakeholder governors. The CoG has formal meetings every quarter and its role is to hold the Trust Board to account for its decision-making and performance.

Throughout the year governors also get involved in a number of activities at the hospitals and in the community, including sitting on interview panels, attending regular meetings with senior managers of all our divisions, having tours of clinical areas and departments, helping us with our PLACE (patient led assessment of the care environment) inspections and more!

Here's Jude's profile...

Hello My Name Is…Jude Goddard

I have my own company specialising in leadership and organisational development and do work for NHS England. I am particularly interested in organisational culture and how that shapes relationships at work to deliver positive change. I started my career as a Probation Officer in Kirklees and I have been an Exec Director in NHS Strategy, Commissioning and Planning.

Why did you want to become a Governor at this Foundation Trust?   I facilitated a leadership programme at the Trust and thought it was such a good organisation I wanted to keep involved. I love the sense of belonging and the people that I meet. It is my local Trust and I admire all the work it does and the staff that do it.

What have you enjoyed most about the role so far? Meeting new people and seeing some old faces-;)

What has been interesting/surprising about the role? Meeting governors

Have there been any funny moments? My tour around the roof of Calderdale hospital learning about what hard FM does

What would you say to anyone thinking about it? Just do it, you will learn from the role and learn about yourself too

How do you relax? Yoga, walking, rubbish running

What is your favourite place? Somewhere hot where the view never ends

Who would you most like to have dinner with? The entire cast of Homeland (the Thriller)

What is your most treasured possession? Health
