July 5 - the NHS's 70th Birthday - and we're having a tea Party

We're hoping for a truly fab day to celebrate the NHS's 70th anniversary.

Anuerin Bevan founded our fab organisation on July 5 1948 bringing together so many different healthcare providers under the same banner. Here's a quick run-down of what we're doing, and we also know our staff will be getting behind the celebrations in their own wards and departments:

  • The Huddersfield and Halifax Choral Societies will be singing in our hospital entrances including a Hallelujah Chorus. The Bishop of Huddersfield and Vicar of Halifax will also be leading short services of Thanksgiving and Rededication from 1 pm.
  • We've also two big Birthday Cards so if you are visiting do sign them and have a slice of birthday cake.
  • Tea, cakes and butties will be served throughout the afternoon at the 7Tea Party.

Pictured is Sophie Holroyd from Service Performance. She's holding a historic piece of our Trust's history. It is the shovel used by the then Health Secretary Frank Dobson who performed the sod-cutting ceremony for the start of building works for Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Sophie is just one of the colleagues we have featured weekly since the start of this historic year. We've covered as many different roles, ages, backgrounds to highlight all the people who, together, make up this Trust caring for our local populations.

There will be full coverage of the events during the day on our Facebook page and Twitter feed @CHFTNHS.
